Marc's Teaching
Marc currently teaches vibraphone, percussion , theory, and computer assisted music in his own studio and online.
Using a variety of sources and influences from traditional marching drum techniques and jazz to Afro and Latin-American styles, Marc allows the students to aquire a well rounded knowledge of their instrument.
Marc developed his teaching technique during many years of working with students of all ages, and now uses his own method of transmitting sophisticated polyrhytms in a group setting to beginners without the need of counting. By borrowing from African, Indian, Latin American and Western traditions, he has created a coherent system that allows for a more organic relationship to rhythm.

Marc is available for private lessons, in his conveniently located studio in Mid-town Manhattan. The following subjects are available:

Mallet Instruments: learn the technique on the vibraphone, marimba and midi-triggering instruments, such as the Mallet Kat.
Sequencing and Audio Editing: my long experience with music software led me to devise simple and effective methods to get you working in no time, whichever is your preferred software: ProTools, Logic or DP.

Marc Wagnon Percussion Ensemble Method DrumTalk
“Drum Talk” is a teaching method created by musician and educator Marc Wagnon that does not require students to have any previous knowledge of music technique. The method is based on group dynamics, and by starting with simple concepts by singing the polyrhythms and various drum strokes before playing them on instruments, an adaptation from the West African way of transmitting drumming knowledge. This system allows the group to attain a level of complexity that would normally demand longer preparation. The book of 10 lessons contains 58 video clips and 86 musical examples.

Blind Musicians Mac Access
Marc is also involved in rendering music sequencing and editing software accessible to the visually impaired. This effort which is centered on the Mac platform, takes advantage of the built-in screen reader VoiceOver (not to be confused with voice recognition software). This software reads for the user whatever is on the computer screen, navigates and uses software by using keystrokes instead of the mouse. This has been an integral part of the MacOS system since the Tiger release. Much progress has been achieved since earlier releases. About three years ago, ProTools joined the effort and has become mostly accessible. It is a challenge to be able to operate such sophisticated software, but Marc now has visually impaired students writing, editing and publishing professional sounding files and sequences.
